As the November election approaches, residents are asked to remember the regulations regarding election signs.
Finding the right location for your signs is important.
- When placing signs on private property, permission must be obtained from the property owners.
- Signs may not be placed in the Township, County or State owned right-of-way, which is the area closest to the street or curb.
- The public right of way is generally the space between the sidewalk (or telephone pole) and the street. This area is typically considered public property and should not be used for the display of political signs.
- Signs may not be affixed to any public utility, pole, tree, street signs or natural object.
Any signs posted within the designated right-of-way will be removed by the zoning department and held for pickup at town hall.
