Garbage, recycling and yard waste

Painesville Township has entered into a contract with Major Waste to be the sole provider of garbage, recycling and yard waste removal for all residential service.

Effective July 1, all residents who are individually serviced (not commercial or apartments) will be serviced by Major Waste Disposal Services.

Late May or early June, all residents should receive information from Major Waste Disposal Services along with current pricing and available options.

For the 2026-2027 contract year, beginning on July 1, service options are:

Weekly garbage pickup (includes 96 gallon tote): $51 per quarter

Optional: Bi-weekly Recycling (includes tote): $12 per quarter

Optional: Weekly Yard Waste pickup: $18 per quarter
Yard waste may be in your own (marked with YW) container, which will be dumped, or may be in paper, recyclable bags. All limbs must be bundled and tied with twine.

Also available to those with very little trash, residents may opt for ‘bag tags’. Each bag tag is good for 1 pickup of the equivalent of 3 kitchen sized (13 gallon) bags.

As a reminder, residents may opt out of all services, however you may not contract for service with a different provider.
