Painesville Township now has two pickleball courts located at Clyde C. Hadden Park.

2026 Learn to Play Pickleball classes:

Once confirmed, a confirmation email with instructions for class and how to pay will be sent to the email provided in the registration.

All lessons are held at Clyde C. Hadden Park, 105 Everett Road.

Pickleball 101

Single, 90 minute class designed to teach the basics of the game. Each paid registration includes a paddle to keep.

Class dates:

May 23

June 9

July 11

August 29

Saturday classes begin at 10:00 am, Tuesday classes begin at 6:00 pm.

Cost: $20 (includes paddle to keep)

4 Week Learn to Play

Level – Beginner 1:

For players with little to no experience. This covers basics with more time spent on each skill, including etiquette, scoring, hitting techniques, and footwork.

– Class 1: Introduction to the game, safety, equipment, and basic rallies.
– Class 2: Positioning and scoring basics.
– Class 3: Dinking and transition zone movement.
– Class 4: Rules, strategies, and supervised games.

4 Weeks, 60 minutes each week.

Class dates:

#1: June 6, 13, 20 and 27

#2: June 30, July 7, 14 and 21

Saturday classes begin at 10:00 am, Tuesday classes begin at 6:00 pm.

Cost: $80 (includes paddle to keep)

4 Week Learn to Play

Level – Beginner 2:

For players that have completed Beginner 1 or have basic knowledge of scoring and court placement. Focuses on skill development, balance and controlled shots.

– Class 1: Attacking balls.
– Class 2: Third shot drop.
– Class 3: Block and punch volleys.
– Class 4: Overheads, lobs and switches.

4 Weeks, 60 minutes each week.

Class dates:

#1: July 25, August 8, 15 and 22

All classes begin at 10:00 am.

While our Policies and Rules are designed to protect you, Painesville Township cannot remove all risk, or otherwise guarantee or promise that you will not sustain any injuries or damages associated with your use of Painesville Township's pickleball courts, equipment, services, activities, products, facilities, or premises. Acknowledgment of Risk I, the undersigned, acknowledge that participating in Pickleball classes at Hadden Park (the "Activity") involves certain inherent risks, including but not limited to the risk of injury from falls, collisions with other players, and overexertion. I understand and accept these risks and confirm that I am physically able to participate in the Activity. Release of Liability In consideration of being allowed to participate in the Activity, I, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, do hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Painesville Township, Hadden Park, its employees, agents, officers, or any other individual or entity involved in organizing, sponsoring, or supervising the Activity (collectively, "Released Parties") from any and all liability, claims, demands, causes of action, or injuries, including but not limited to personal injury, death, or property damage, arising out of or in connection with my participation in the Activity, whether caused by the negligence of the Released Parties or otherwise. Assumption of Responsibility I agree to assume full responsibility for any injuries, damages, or losses I may suffer while participating in the Activity. This includes any injuries or damages caused by my own actions or negligence, or by the actions or negligence of others participating in the Activity. Governing Law This waiver shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio. Any disputes arising under this waiver shall be resolved in the courts of Lake County, Ohio. The court nets and windscreen will be taken down for the winter season during the week of Thanksgiving, and the court area will be locked for the winter to prevent damage to the courts.
